Used construction machinery refers to equipment that, despite prior use, retains its operational capabilities; it is primarily utilized in sectors such as construction, mining, and water conservancy. The concept traces its origins to ancient lifting tools, evolved significantly with the advent of the steam engine in the early 19th century, and entered a period of rapid growth following World War II. Based on function, such machinery can be categorized into excavating machinery, earth-moving and transport machinery, lifting machinery, and other types, encompassing equipment such as excavators and bulldozers.

During the circulation and resale process, particular attention must be paid to inspecting the hydraulic systems and assessing the wear and tear on the tracks. As of 2023, China's total installed base of construction machinery exceeded 9 million units-with excavators and loaders accounting for a significant proportion-and approximately 700,000 units enter the secondary market circulation channel annually. Circulation channels span dealer trade-ins, specialized used machinery markets, and third-party auction platforms; notably, in 2024, China's export volume of used machinery surpassed domestic sales of new machinery for the first time. The global market for used construction machinery reached a value of US$95.4 billion in 2023 and is projected to grow to US$122 billion by 2030, with Africa and Southeast Asia serving as key export markets. The industry employs remanufacturing technologies to dismantle and refurbish equipment; remanufactured products typically cost only 50% as much as new machines while achieving 60% energy savings, 70% material savings, and an 80% reduction in emissions. Furthermore, the *Action Plan for Promoting Large-scale Equipment Renewal and Trade-in of Consumer Goods* (2024)-issued by the State Council-along with local standards established in Hunan and Hainan provinces, are actively driving the standardized development of this industry.
